BASICS

BASICS: "Hummingbirds.....where is the person, I ask, who, on observing this glittering fragment of the rainbow, would not pause, admire, and turn his mind with reverence..." (J. J. Audubon).
This is a blog about my summer life at the Baiting Hollow Hummingbird Sanctuary, at my winter garden, Calypso, in the Bahamas, and aspects of life in general.
This private sanctuary is now permanently closed to the general public, as a result of a lawsuit brought by a neighbor. Only my friends and personal guests may visit (paul.adams%stonybrook.edu).

Visiting Next Week ; New Photos by Hong NI

Current Visiting Opportunities

am (10-12.30) and pm (3-5)
Thur  am only

No Weekend Opening this week
Many more opportunities next week and thereafter, TBA!

Hong Ni is a talented photographer and came all the way from New Jersey! The first and last photos are particularly interesting because they show a juvenile male with the ruby-red throat just beginning to form.
I will wait a bit to post opening opportunities for next week until the weather predictions are clearer. We open for 3 days during the week, and the aug 17 morning is already booked by a garden club.
