A blog that provides up-to-date information about the world's leading (according to Google) hummingbird sanctuary, on high bluffs overlooking Long Island Sound, Riverhead, New York. The sanctuary is private and not open to the general public. Paul's Email: paul.adams%stonybrook.edu. We sometimes livestream from the sanctuary, at youtube.com/channel/UCvTj9WdD0zItyBLI6m-U9Og/live
BASICS
This is a blog about my summer life at the Baiting Hollow Hummingbird Sanctuary, at my winter garden, Calypso, in the Bahamas, and aspects of life in general.
This private sanctuary is now permanently closed to the general public, as a result of a lawsuit brought by a neighbor. Only my friends and personal guests may visit (paul.adams%stonybrook.edu).

Volunteering at the sanctuary
A small group of hummingbird aficionados very generously sometimes help out at the sanctuary, either with watering plants and refilling feeders when I'm away for a few days, or with helping monitor visitor when we are open. If any of my faithful and patient readers would like to help out but are not on the list to which I recently sent a request email, please email me and I will add you to the list. It's essential that you have already, in the past, visited the sanctuary, and that you are fit and good on your feet.
The photo, by DickSolo, shows a hummer feeding at Salvia greggii (Autumn Sage).
